Labor and Delivery=GRACIE

I am going to apologize in advance for me looking close to dead in half of these pictures, but who looks good on their delivery bed, honestly. On Friday the 22nd of May we checked into the AF hospital for my induction. I was 1/2 cm and 70% effaced. My body was NOT about to go into labor on its own. They started me with some pills that dissolve and thin out the cervix. Then they were going to place a balloon up there (sorry for details) to act like baby's head to start to dilate me. That part was not successful. So we had to wait until my body opened up a little. A few hours later I was a 1 and about 90% effaced so they were able to place the balloon. Success this time. In fact contractions started soon after and were pretty darn intense. So I asked for the epidural...Heaven. We waited a couple of hours and when I was at a 5 it was time to start the pitosin. Well, one of the nurses came and checked me about11:30pm and said I was at a 8-9 and we got really excited! Then about an hour later they came to check me again and I kid you not I was a 6! The first nurse was wrong. That is when they started to talk about C-section. My Dr knew my bone structure was really small, but he wanted to give me every possible chance to go naturally. They said if i didn't dilate in 1 hour we would go in for the C-section. Well, I made progress and was to a 9 for real this time. When it was time to push it was about 5:15am. 2 1/2 hours of pure hell later Gracie decided she wasn't coming through the birth canal. Dr Watabe came in and I did not protest against the C-section. at 8:30am we welcomed baby Gracie into this world. 8Lbs 8oz 19in long. Even the Dr was surprised at how big she was. There is no wonder why I couldn't deliver her, she was HUGE! When she came out she cried a little. There was a small breathing scare for about 2 min, but they quickly got her up and good again. She and Zac headed for the nursery while I went to recover for an hour. Her sugar levels were a little low so they needed me quickly to feed her. She is so healthy and doing so good! She feeds like a little champ too! She had to go under the billy ruben lights for a little bit, but that's is all. We are so happy to have her here. 20 hours of labor, approx 3 hours of pushing and a c-section is totally worth it. She is a little angel. We took advantage of our insurance and stayed at the hospital the full 96 hours and we got home this morning. I love visitors, so please feel free to call (if your not sick) :) oh no, im paranoid already. Enjoy some pictures!

The Countdown to Motherhood Begins!

I will officially be a mother in 7 days or less! If I do not go on my own by next Friday the 22nd I am going to be induced! We are very excited mixed with nervousness. I really want to be able to go into labor on my own which can still happen, but not likely because I am only dilated to a 1 and 70% effaced at this point (but things can change quickly!) My Dr does want me to be induced around my due date because of our history. Well, just wanted to give you an update! Hopefully next time you read my blog (because lets be serious, im a terrible blogger) Gracie will be here!

Nesting

I think I'm in "nesting" mode. Either that or I am trying everything I can to induce labor.
